No More Stock Music: Google Vids Gets Custom AI Tracks with Lyria 3
Google has integrated its Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro music generation models into Google Vids, enabling creators to generate personalized soundtracks through AI rather than relying on stock music libraries.
Two Tiers of AI Music Generation
The platform offers two options depending on your needs:
- Lyria 3 Clip — Generates 30-second audio segments, perfect for jingles and transitions
- Lyria 3 Pro — Creates full-length tracks up to 3 minutes with complex structural elements including intros, verses, and choruses
Both tiers support multilingual vocals and high-fidelity audio quality.
How It Works
Users access the feature through the “Help me create” prompt or the audio side panel inside Google Vids. From there, you can specify genre, mood, and structural elements — or upload an image and let Lyria analyze the “vibe” to automatically generate a matching audio track.
Who Gets Access
Rollout began March 25, 2026 and is available across:
- Business & Enterprise tiers
- Education Plus and Teaching & Learning upgrade subscribers
- Google AI Pro and Ultra personal subscriptions
- Nonprofit accounts through promotional access (available through May 31, 2026)
Built-In Safety
All AI-generated tracks include imperceptible SynthID watermarking, which verifies that the audio was AI-generated. This is particularly relevant for educational settings where maintaining academic integrity around AI-assisted content matters.
The Bottom Line
For educators and content creators who rely on Google Workspace, this removes a real friction point. Building a video lesson or presentation no longer means hunting through stock music libraries or paying for licensing. You describe what you need, and the AI generates it — on brand, on tone, and immediately usable.
